Study Days for Midwives, Health Visitors, Maternity Support Workers and others working with Vulnerable Migrant Women

Maternity Action is running a series of courses as follows:

Improving Care for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
Introductory course
Covers the asylum process, refugee experience, entitlements and provide information and tools for effective support. This course is RCM-accredited and provides 5.5 CPD hours for midwives.
To be held: Thu 13th June 2013, repeated Wed 26th June 2013

Advanced course
Covers the barriers to accessing services and how to provide woman-centered care. This course is RCM-accredited and provides 5.5 CPD hours for midwives.
To be held: Fri 5th July 2013

Working with Vulnerable Migrant Women
Covers types of immigration status, rights and entitlements to healthcare, benefits and services, barriers, signposting, providing effective support.
To be held: Wed 5th June 2013, repeated Wed 10th July 2013

All courses start at 9.30am (registration from 9.15am) and finish at 4.30pm.  All courses will be held in an accessible London venue. 

Each course costs £70, which includes the training, a resource pack and refreshments.  To book, use this form:

Improving Care for Refugees and Asylum Seekers - course content

The training consists of a one-day introductory course aimed at all midwives, and a one-day advanced course for midwives with a special interest in working with refugees and asylum seekers.  Additional resources to support midwives working with refugees and asylum seekers have been developed and are available on this dedicated website.
